For some interns there is no change, as their placement is situated close to the Orientation Centre, and they will be staying in the house for the duration of the placement. Other interns may simply be moving to a homestay family in the same city or town as our Orientation Centre or an apartment and the placement transfer might involve a short walk or taxi. For most of our interns, their placement is not located in the same area as our Orientation Centre, and they will be required to take some form of local transportation. In most cases this involves a bus ride, which is generally never more than $25 USD round trip.

In some cases you may be required to use any number of transportation methods to reach your placement, including, but not limited to, airplane, boat, donkey, or canoe. This information will all be made available to you prior to you selecting your placement preferences.

In some cases you have an option as to your mode of transportation. For example, if you were doing a placement in Southern Thailand you could take a bus (10-14 hours) for about $25, or you have the option to fly (2-3 hours) for about $150. It is your choice how you choose to get there. Your coordinator can assist you with any arrangements you need to make.

Please Note: Any transportation costs for the placement transfer are not included in your program fee, as they can vary from participant to participant from anywhere between $0 if you are not requiring to move up to $200.00 USD if you require a flight (for example placements on the Galapagos).
