How to Apply

STEP 1 Apply Online
Once you have viewed some of the potential placement options and decide on your program dates you are ready to submit the online application. This application provides our internship coordinator with the information they need to begin to match you with specific placements, based on your interests, skills and academic requirements.

In order to apply you will need to have a valid email address for yourself and internet access. As well, the application will require email and contact information for your references, and listed emergency contacts.

In addition to your contact information, the application provides you with an opportunity to write a cover letter to introduce yourself to your coordinator, and potential placement. It includes a skills assessment, as well as some short answer questions, all of which are used to help your coordinator match you with appropriate placement choices. There is no fee to apply online. After your application has been reviewed, you will be contacted with your application acceptance by email within 10 business days.

STEP 2 Registration
The next step is to register for the program. Once your registration fee has been received, you will gain access to the internship intranet that allows you to download all relevant information specific to your placement options and host country. At this point you will be mailed your internship package, which includes registration forms, pre-departure and arrival materials including your orientation handbook. Your intern coordinator will contact you after your registration has been processed, and you can begin working directly with them regarding your internship. If for some reason we can not find you an appropriate placement your registration fee will be fully refunded (allow up to 6 weeks after registration to receive final confirmation of your placement).

Your intern coordinator is your best resource to discuss your current, and other, potential placement options, as well as any other country or placement specific questions you may have. After all, they're living there and can speak about it first hand. Registration for this program should begin no later than 60 days prior to departure.

Registration Fee: $1100.00 CAD

Registration Fee Includes: Airport Pick up, Airport arrival snack, 24 hour Emergency support, 8 nights accommodation, one week language training, one week accommodation and meals in our orientation house and pre-departure and travel support.

STEP 3 Final Payments and Details
Make your final payment for your program 60 days prior to the program start date and head into the field.

Remember: Most of our internships in Latin America require you to be conversant in Spanish. We provide language training in country for all of our interns. If you are at a basic level and need additional language training you can add language training to your internship program. Training happens prior to your placement start date and may require up to three months for you to become proficient in the language to make you a useful intern at your placement. If you are already conversant in the language of your host country then you will be required to take an oral exam over the phone with your intern coordinator after you register. Training is placement specific please view placements for requirements. All interns receive one week of language training included in their registration fee.

All interns usually require extended accommodation and meals during their language training and / or internship. We offer our interns a choice of living in the Orientation Center for the full duration of their program or assistance in finding suitable alternative accommodation such as homestays or affordable apartments. All interns receive one week accommodation and meals in the orientation house included in their registration fee.

Our field staff and resource centers are there to help you integrate into the culture and life of your host country with as much ease as possible.
